What is “Personal Development”?
Is it about winning? Being better than other people? Or is it about beating yourself?
Is it you against the world? Or rather.. You versus Yourself?
You may think the answer is clear, and it is, but occasionally (and sometimes more often than we’d like) we compare ourselves to others. That only brings forth vanity and despair.
There will always be people far better than you are now, as much as there are people far worse.
At the end of the day, 2 things should matter:
First and foremost, are you happy?
If you are, then nothing else matters. If you aren’t, you need to remember that the quote “happiness is within you” is much more than just a cliché.
You can choose, right now, that you are happy. You don’t need to wait for something to happen to you. For some special occasion. You simply need to decide, to be happy, grateful and positive.
Then, the second thing, with the foundation of happiness, is to always strive to be better. Not only for yourself, but even more so, for your friends, your family, your community, and the world.
That will bring you a feeling of accomplishment and content. Knowing that you made this world a better place.
Be yourself, make yourself better each and every day, and be happy, because you can.
